Authorities in New York have made an agreement with a consortium of Transit Wireless to deploy cellular and Wi-Fi- access to the city subway. Over the next two years and six subway stations should be fully equipped with wireless. If successful, the company, until 2011 all of Metro New York will be equipped with wireless broadband connection and Wi-Fi- access, according to MuniWireless.
The project cost is estimated at 46 million. USD. Access will be provided with only the station, so that during the movement of trains through the tunnels will not be due.
